The Christchurch Town Hall reinstatement and refurbishment required that the original character and style of the building had to be preserved as part of the restoration. The upgrade has resulted in the building being modernised and aligned with current compliance and building codes.
The Town Hall will reopen in stages, with the main auditorium, foyer and function rooms opening in February 2019.
A new building has been built at the rear of the town hall as Headquarters for the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. To maintain the original character old Plaster tiles were replicated and installed
